I got asked to do a groom's cake, Dallas Cowboys themed, to show off in front of his NFC East rival friends. :) The cake was red velvet with cream cheese filling. Yum!
Football was made out of rice krispie treats.

My sisters's birthday is coming up and she was having a hard time deciding on what flavor she wants for her cake. So, I did a test cake for her. It gave me an excuse to try out a fun new cake design. The cake is a double chocolate cake with raspberry filling and raspberry buttercream. Needless to say, it was a hit!
I have been wanting to take a class on how to make heels out of gum paste but all the classes here in Dallas have the shoes looking small and stumpy. I was looking to make a realistic sexy shoe. I ending up looking though Nicholas Lodge's website and saw some sexy stilettos out of gum paste done by an amazing Roxanne Moore aka the cake engineer. Once I saw her shoes I knew I had to go to Georgia to take her class. I contacted her and begged her to come to Dallas and she told me in 3 weeks she was going to Austin to teach a class. Well, then and there I signed my mom (I needed a driving buddy) and I for the class. Here is Roxanne and I. Of course I have to show off my favorite heel. We did 2 shoes in the class. This is shoe 1. And now for my favorite shoe . . . Oh how I wish I had a pair like this! LOL. :)
Here is a sweet sixteen cake I did for a co-worker's cousin, Isabel. This one was a first for me because it was a tiered buttercream and fondant details. I have done tiered but not buttercream. I didn't have as many issues as I though I would but then again I had my mom, the buttercream queen help me out a lot. Thanks mom! The sweet 16 colors were Turquoise and white with some purple. And her invitations had butterflies on them. I while back I took a class for gelatin butterflies and bows and knew when I found out there were butterflies on her invitations I wanted to do the gelatin ones (they seem more real then fondant ones to me) for the cake. Isabel also wanted zebra pattern on her cake. The sweet sixteen butterfly cake
What? Skittle flavored vodka . . . yum! :) I found this while surfing the web and just had to give it a try. What you will need is:
The formula that was on the web: 60 Skittles to 6 ounces of vodka, which yields about 8 ounces of infused vodka. |
