I got to do a birthday cake for a sweet little boy who loves Ghostbusters and just in time to honor the Ghostbusters 30th anniversary. What perfect timing! I decided to do a recreation of a classic scene from the movie. Hope it work out in my favor. Lets get started with this Ghostbusters cake. To put me in the mood I played the ghostbusters theme song. If there's somethin' strange in your neighborhood Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters! If it's somethin' weird an' it don't look good Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters! I ain't afraid o' no ghost I ain't afraid o' no ghost I stared with the main Ghostbusters building. You can see the other buildings right under it. Doing my research. Making sure I get the building correct. Now it's starting to come together. (Still paying the theme song) I can't forget the details. YAY!
Here is goes the cake in all its glory! It was huge! The tallest building stood slightly over 2 feet tall. With all the figurines, vehicles, marshmallow man and building you can best believe I didn't get much sleep. But, I was one happy girl once it was delivered. I ended up paying the Ghostbusters theme song over and over till the cake got completed. Its safe to say it will be a while before I listen to the theme song again. Haha. I ain't afraid o' no ghost!

I was making a T-rex face for a cake and found it quite fun. He doesn't look like much with out his scary teeth. Well actually he looks a bit funny. Watch out, this T-rex will gum you to death. Haha. Poor guy, he needs some sharp pearly whites. Ahh, thats better! After the teeth were added and some shading was done he was looking a lot scarier but something was missing. . . Hmmmm I figured out what it was. Silly I know but it was the white dot on the eye that made T-rex come alive for me. This is how he ended up looking on the cake. Love how fierce he looks. Watch out this cake just might bite back. Happy Birthday Alijah & Adrian.
Here I go again, posting late. I promise you guys that one day I will get the hang of this. :) I hope to have enough free time to add new post about my cakes every Tuesday or Wednesday. By saying that, its like a verbal commitment. Okay, well again to recap on what I have been up to... Cute mini cupcake toppersMy sister recently found out one of her coworker's birthday was coming up and wanted me to make it special but using cupcakes, not a cake. It is just easier to eat cupcakes during work. I decided on cute and colorful cupcake and happy birthday toppers for cupcakes. I love the way the mini cupcake looks especially with the cute cherry on top. You can't tell but they had a little of glimmer to them which gave it a nice girly feel. Sprinkles and Pink CamoI finally got the opportunity to cover a cake in what I like to call 'Happy Sprinkles'. These color sprinkles just make me happy very time I see them, hence the name 'Happy Sprinkles'. One thing I did learn is there is no easy and CLEAN way to pour all these sprinkles over a cake without making a huge mess. Notice all the sprinkles on the table. I am sad I didn't get the end picture of this cake but take my word for it, it was cute and very HAPPY! :) Another cake I got to finally got to learn and do. This was my first time doing buttercream camouflage and what better way to do it then to do it in shades of pink. Again, sadly no end photo for this one either. Baby BundleHere is a new take on a baby shower cake. A surprise baby bundle of joy. How cute are those baby feet poking out of the bundle. I love the way these baby shoes came out! When I went to deliver this cake guess what cute little thing greeted me, this cutie of a dog. She was dressed for the occasion and everything. As we prepare to launch our store next year, we are happy to announce the new look of Sweets By Selina. After many designs, we finally decided on the one that best represented who we are. A colorful sleek logo, that does not shout "we're just another boring bakery trying to look like we're the fanciest of them all". You can rest knowing that the quality of our products will remain unaltered. And while our recipes remain the same, we have a few options that we are adding. Now every cake you order from us will be generously triple layered! As we expand our layering options, not only will your cake look beautiful from the inside but you can expect every bite of our single & tiered cakes to be even more delicious. Now you can choose to add buttercream in one layer, ganache or filling in the next. You can even add another cake flavor in the middle. But no worries, if you absolutely must have a 2 layered cake, we will be happy to oblige! At Sweets By Selina, we value your business and care for all our customers. If you absolutely do not love your order, let us know and we will make things right! Here are some super fun, extremely colorful cake pops that were a lot of work. They were more work than anticipated but I love, love, love the way they came out! Look at all that detail and beautiful colors. Here is the order boxed and ready for delivery.
A super duper fun birthday cake. Cake was actual size of hammer. Look at that sliver . . . "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor!" So it's that time again, my sisters birthday. I love when her birthday comes around because I get to try out and create crazy cakes. This year I knew what I wanted to do a while back. We were having a sister night and sister nights usually consist of wine and Disney movies. This time it was Sleeping Beauty. When I saw the part of the fairies trying to make a cake with out their magic wands I though to my self "THATS IT!" That was the cake I was going to attempt to do. I say attempt because it looked pretty darn hard and if it didn't happen she wouldn't know, plus I had a back up plan if it didn't work out. My back up pan was the unbirthday cake from Alice in Wonderland. So glad it worked out! Now the cake and all its glory! Here is the cake again with a few screen shots from the movie, that way you guys know what part I'm talking about (if your not to familiar with Disney movies). Here are the cakes I've done for her since I started caking, mind you I've only been doing this for about 3 years now. I got an inquiry to make a Christian Louboutin shoe box cake and heel. I was a bit scared the heel wouldn't come out like the actual heel she sent me because it had been a long while since I've done a heel and I had recently got a new mold and wasn't to sure how to use it. I did end up having to re-do the heel just because it wasn't to my satisfaction. The second one I loved and actually wanted to keep it for display. Look at all that BLING!
I got this order and was like, really? I am surprised to see a guy was going for this theme. I was happy to oblige.
