A girl from work asked me if I could do a scarface cake, but not just any scarface cake, a topsy turvy one, for a guy in his 30's. I was stumped on the design, I mean how can I do a topsy turvy cake manly enough for a guy and not just any guy one who likes scarface. This took some intense thinking and some help from my boyfriend. Low and behold the final cake after many hours of debating on what to do. It looks nothing like my first draft. LOL. Small note: it's not all cake, she only needed to feed about 20 people but still wanted a 3 tier topsy turvy cake.

So for those of you who don't know, I work at Texas Smile Dental Center. My uncle Ramon owns it and the majority of the family works there, and tomorrow is his birthday! In the picture it is my cousin Dina, myself, my tio, my sister Missy and my cousin Yazmin. My cousin, Yazmin (his daughter) asked me to make a cake for work to celebrate his birthday but being that my mother bakes as well she beat me too the punch. With that being said I decided to add my touch to my mom's cake and make an edible cake topper. Here is my edible cake topper. And this is what we ended up with after combining my mother's wonderful 2 tier cake and my topper. Happy Birthday Tio, Happy Birthday! Really really want chocolate soufflé but don't have all the ingredients. :( Oh what to do, what to do? Do I go to the store (really don't feel like going anywhere after a long day of work) or suffer and have ice cream instead? To the store it is! :) This is what I had to to pick up.
The most important ingredients in chocolate soufflé, CHOCOLATE! Yay for chocolate. :) So it being Sunday today I decided to take a break from the usual baking routine and have a little fun day playing with Play-doh and Moon dough :) (also, because play-doh and moon dough are a lot cheaper than fondant). It was my first time ever playing with moon dough and it was different and fun. It's soft squishy and super light. Just get your hands on some and you'll know what I'm talking about. I started an airbrush class earlier this week and I am sad to say it ends tomorrow. This is my airbrush class. It was small but tons of fun. As you can see I did make my mom take the class with me. (Thanks Mom!) We only bought one airbrush gun so it was hard sharing since we both wanted to use it all the time. :) Oh, for you guys wondering I did a kitty with a cupcake. The kitty is by no means to be confused for a squirrel. Lol. Another quick example of what I did in airbrushing class. Mmm, I'm feeling a Mardi Gras cake coming up. :)
Hi, this is my first blog, I'm excited. Now lets see how this thing works.
I'm not only new to blogging but also baking. I just discovered my passion 6 months ago, and I fell in LOVE with it. |
