I got asked to be a god mother to my fiances little cousin. This came as a shock to me! I was so excited I wanted to make him a special cake for his confirmation and not the typical confirmation cake. This little boy loves space and rockets so I decided to do a NASA cake. I might of been biting off more then I could chew but I was up for the challenge and it had been a while since I did a cake so I was ready to jump in. There were a few hiccups along the way but I couldn't be more happy with the way it cake out! Here is the main part of the cake drying. It's rice crispies treats covered in fondant. With edible logos. Now for the cake itself. Sorry for the poor quality, it was taken with my phone which at this point was all covered in powder sugar. -_- I did however love the way the stars came out. It took a few different techniques for me to get it like this but in the end I was happy. I was going to put space rocks around the cake but figured the confirmation boy would enjoy that way more. Here is a picture of the rocks the boy added. Here is the ecstatic boy taking a picture of his cake. I finally was smart enough to clean my phone's camera lens to snap this picture right before I left. That blue ribbon tied around the spaceship was there for added support to make sure it wouldn't tip over. The party wasn't till hours later so I wanted to make sure it would be okay. Here was my picture I took right before I left for delivers. Notice the rocks weren't placed yet.

WOW! It's been a heck of year so far. I have been slacking with my blog posts as always but this year I had a reason, I was getting married. Now that I'm married now I hope to pick back up on blogging and get back to doing cakes more frequently! Lets start with a few cakes I haven't posted yet. Here is a sports themed baby shower cake. Cupcakes for my moms birthday. Cupcakes are chocolate cake with cajeta filling and caramel frosting. Yum. Here are the cute little cupcake toppers for her cupcakes. Cupcake on top of a cupcake... I call it cupcake inception.*Mind Blown* Ha! I talked my fiance into taking care of the wedding planning with I entered my cakes in an Expo. He gladly agreed! :) I entered my cakes in the Latin Bridal and Quince Expo. Here are a few close ups of the cakes I entered into the Expo. Some I did specifically for the expo others I had already made. Here a few cakes I did that I didn't get a chance to blog about. A Power Ranger cake for Quincy. I did his 2nd birthday cake. Do you guys remember the batman cake, that was his. :) Here is a surfing baby shower cake theme. Classy and fun, oh yea it was a boy. ;) Here is a fun Cowboy retirement cake. Loved doing this one! And last a beautiful Sweet 16th cake. This was a fun Neon Themed Party. The inside of the cake was even colorful. :) This week I had several big and extravagant cakes due. This week was so crazy and I loved every bit of it. I had a Pirate cake, a Fabulous 40 cake and a Shopping Spree cake. Pirate CakeThis was for the lady I did the Skylander cake for last year. I was so excited that she came back to me again. This year it was a pirate theme. Perfect. I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Here is the main character for my cake, the Pirate. Made out of fondant then dusted with petal dust to give him dimension. The final product! I love love love the way this cake came out!!! Fabulous 40This was a huge cake. Hand painted leopard print on the bottom tier. Painted with food coloring. This took a long time. -_- After airbrushing the bottom tier it started looking more like leopard print. The finally of the Fab 40 Cake. Diva-licious! Shopping SpreeThis was a surprise cake for a wife who loves shopping. The husband wanted a shopping spree cake with a boxes, spilt coffee cup, clutch, bracelet and money. This was a detailed cake and took way much more time then anticipated. Here is the split Starbucks coffee cup drying. Here is the Gucci present bag drying before placing the stuffing inside the bag. Here is the making of a Victoria's Secret box. The final cake. I loved the way it turned out. I had to deliver this cake on a rainy day and everything couldn't have gone better. Best of all the wife loved it and had a blast!
I got asked to do a 'Marvel" cake for a birthday boy turning 5. They specifically asked for no fondant, only buttercream and to feed quite a few people. Here is the outcome... This took quite a bit of photoshop magic to get the whole 5 covered in marvel characters. Here is another cake I did this weekend. I did this one for a customer who I have done a few cakes for and has become a good friend. This was a Neapolitan cake, 3 layers, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Covered in tiffany blue buttercream with 'bling' on the ends with a beautiful white gum paste flower in the center. It has been a long time since I've blogged about my cakes, so now its time to play catch up. Now that I have time on my hands let me quickly show you a preview of what I have been up to this year. Large Cake Pop OrderI recently got an order for 220 cake pops for a company to give to their top customers and was honored when they ordered the cake pops from me. Flavors from left to right were strawberry, white almond, chocolate and red velvet. This is how the boxes were made up. Me with the finished order. :) New item added to the menu! :)I recently added a new item to my cakeball menu. I introduce to you the Alcoholic Cake Ball. A fun adult twist to your average cakeball. These cakeballs have a little side shooter, you can either shoot and eat or eat and shoot the options is totally up to you. Monster High CakeI got a request for a Monster High Cake which like usual (since I don't have kids nor am I familiar with shows) I had to look up. This cake was super fun to work on. I espically loved the skull on top. Super Woman CakeSometime in November I did a Super Woman cake for a beautiful little girl. Lalaloopsy who ??? In October I had to do a lalaloopsy cake and I agreed to do this cake without even knowing what a lalaloopsy was. Glad to find out it was a show of rag dolls that came to life. After getting some inspirations from a couple of dolls I came up with this cake. Love how colorful this cake is. Baltimore OriolesThis was a tough cake to make. Everyone knows I am a DIE HARD RANGER FAN so it had to be someone pretty special to get me to make this cake (lol). This was for my sister's boyfriend's birthday. I am not going to lie it hurt more because my Rangers lost to them in the wild card game. Ball was chocolate cake and bat was made out of rice crispies then covered in fondant. Logos are edible images. Happy 44th Birthday to the Dallas Fire and Rescue House I was real honored to do this cake for the 44th birthday of the Dallas Fire and Rescue House #26. I had to go above and beyond of what was done last year for them so instead of doing your typical fire engine or burning building I figured I'd capture the helmet and axe they carry. I wanted to really dirty up the helmet to show how hard they work for us. Here is their actual hemet I based the cake off of. A personal 'Thank You' to all you paramedics and fire fighters out there. :) Noah's ArkThis was a crazy last minuet request and by last minuet I meant she only gave me about 2 days to pull this one off. Her son Noah was turning 1 and she wanted to go big with the cake. This was a huge cake about 2 feet or so tall an about 1.5 feet wide and gosh knows how many pounds. Loved the outcome though. I was uncertain on how it was going to come out but this has to be one of my favorite 3D cakes. The whales with the party hats have to by my favorite ones. Icing Smiles CakeI finally got called into action!!! I needed to make a special little boy who loves Elmo his dream Sesame Street Cake. This is what I ended up making him. Thank you Lauren Kitchens for your help with the Elmo! I love cookies and milkNow were in July and the cake was for my sister. We love cookies and milk if we could we would have it for breakfast and dinner ever night but sadly we don't. But to honor the love we have for them I did this cake for her. I love love love this cake. :) The milk carton was the cake. Happy Birthday Missy! I love you! Bridal Shower 'Cake' PopsA college friend requested wedding cakepops for thank you gifts for a bridal shower she was throwing. These were a lot harder and more time consuming then I would of ever imagined but they did come out beautifully! Happy Birthday Mommy!Being a cake decorator I had to go above and beyond for my mom's cake and here is what I ended up doing. This cake was for her work. All buttercream 3 layers tall. Cake flavor was vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. Wish I would of taken a picture of how the inside looked once it was cut. And this beautiful little number was for her party we had here at home. Box top and gems are not edible. Magazine cakeThis cake was hard, well not the actual cake but the edible images. The birthday boy loves Sports Illustrated but I wanted to custom the covers for the cake and I am not very good at photoshop so I can to call in my other half. He made the magazine covers for me and customized for the birthday boy. Cake is all buttercream and edible images. Sponge Bob & Guitar cakeFinally got to do a Sponge Bob cake. Guitar cake done for my cousin. I got to pick what ever cake I wanted to make for him and since he plays the guitar what better cake to make then a guitar one? :) Baby shower cakesHere are a few baby shower cakes I did this year. CupcakesHere are a few cupcakes I made through out this year. Here is a quinceanera cake I did over the weekend. They asked for cakes, cupcakes and cake pops. Sadly I didn't take any pictures of the cake pops but I did take pictures of the cake and cupcakes. Elizabeth (the quinceanera) designed the cake and did a wonderful job. Stars on cakes are made out of fondant sides are ribbon. Cake flavors are chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and pineapple with vanilla buttercream. Cupcake flavors are chocolate, pineapple, vanilla and carrot Here are some cakes I did the end of February for some guys. A strawberry boobie cake with fondant pasties of course. And... A chocolate and vanilla bootie cake with fondant details. Wish you could see the bows on the sides of the panties.
This bootie cakes we are first for me. I liked the over all look but will attempt to alter it next time I get asked to do one. I also got asked to do a bachelorette cake but that picture isn't going up here. LOL! |
